MisinfoCon 4.0 — both our biggest MisinfoCon and American-based Hacks/Hackers event ever—turned out to be a huge success, exceeding our wildest expectations. Turns out folks in the Capital are very interested in joining our fight…quite reassuring! 🙂

Over 200 people showed up (with hundreds more on the waitlist!) over two days at the Newseum to hear from a myriad of key speakers from different disciplines as well as participate in workshops facilitated by various prominent groups in the space. Together, we all made tangible progress in combating the rampant proliferation of misinformation by addressing the issue holistically — with perspectives from politics, tech, research, academia and journalism, among many others.

The convening truly captured the essence and spirit of MisinfoCon and highlighted what makes our events so unique. Not only do attendees get to network and hear from key luminaries but they also directly participate in fabulous workshops, generating ideas that live on the web for anyone to see. We’re in the midst of creating a global movement — and the momentum we’re feeling is extraordinary.

Lightning talks!

Half of our speakers’ talks are available on the MisinfoCon YouTube channel. Check them out here! We will be adding the speakers from day one shortly. In addition, we have made the slides available from most of the speakers here.

Workshop presentations!

Please check out the great presentations made by our workshop groups at the end of our conference here. Day one’s presentations will be added soon. And again, you can find all corresponding slides here.

Notes!

HUGE thanks to Karina Chapman (@MrsChapmanNMS) for taking meticulous and detailed notes for both day one and day two.

Mark your calendars for London!

Save the date for MisinfoCon 5.0, happening on Wednesday, October 24th in London. We’re very proud to partner with Mozilla again for our second MisinfoCon in London. Details to come very shortly.

Thank you to all of our attendees, speakers and workshop leaders. And, of course, enormous thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters — the Knight Foundation, Craig Newmark Philanthropies, SAGE Publishing, Adam Goldstein and Mozilla.

Please stay in touch with us!
